In reviewing the month of December, a Yang Fire Rat, revealed some power struggles; domination, oppression, and power plays. The Rat is an interesting Zodiac Animal as it is very social, very much about being in a crowd and feeling its community. This is not like the Rooster crowing to be seen and heard. The Rat simply has a presence and a desire to connect with an audience. The Rat is also about finances, fiscal responsibility, and we can now look over the past few weeks and assess how expensive was the holiday season? What are you investing in? Who are you invested in? And why? What have you gathered, collected, and amassed? These are questions to ask yourself now that we are leaving December. The Rat and Dragon did bring a charisma to the mood and were good for socials and collabs. A festive time was experienced by many. But now, as we enter the last month, the last weeks of this Dragon of 2024, we have a very different flavor to our collective astrology.
Starting January 5, 2025 we have a month ruled by a Yin Fire Ox. This is cold, dry Earth and the Yin Fire is the candle in the window, it is the glowing embers of a dying fire in the fireplace, it is that warm cup of tea cradled in your hands as you look at to a winter’s day. This month is when we prepare for the coming New Year, it is a month of transition, preparation, processing, composting, and vision/ intention setting our way forward. The Dragon is spring Earth, warm and fertile. These two will agitate each other as one is resting Yin Earth, conservative, hibernating, and the Dragon is charismatic, active, and full of wonder and curiosity which leads it into inventing and creating innovatively. In this juxtaposition we may feel pulled in two direction; the longing to retreat and rest, and the urgency to take action and join forces in collaborations and partnerships in progressive projects. The Dragon feels like it is asking us to do more than we really want to, it is asking us to pull a double, or stay later when we are so ready to clock out and take the long way home. Amp up self-care, healthy nourishing, and needed rest in the weeks ahead. Clear your head of the news and social media, journal and process about how you are composting 2024 while crafting a vision board for your 2025.
IMPORTANT DATES FOR JANUARY 2025: 5th is first day of the month. 13th Full Moon ends the year of the Dragon and marks the day to put outside all your Feng Shui cures and crystals to be cleansed and cleared by the light of the moon, check the Blog about how to prepare for the Lunar New Year for detailed instructions on clearing cures and crystals. Between the 13th and the 28th do a deep cleaning/ decluttering/ reorganizing of your home and property. January 29th is the Lunar New Year and is a time for grand celebrations with friends, family, delicious Asian foods, firecrackers, and bon fires. Ensure all Feng Shui cures are in place BEFORE the New Moon on the 29th. The first day of the first month is February 3, 2025.

The Flying Stars for January will illustrate why it is so important that you work with the best directions and keep those areas well lit and active while depressing and darkening those negative spaces and leave them dormant. This magnifies the positive and the negative energies so it is so important to work with this chi mindfully.
Neutral– The 3 Star in the Center is visited by the 3 Star in January. Wood Stars are in a position of controlling the Earth of the Center which has a weakening affect but also empowering. Red and the use of the Fire element will mitigate the conflict present here. The Period 9 Star does offer some success and possible fame. Best Colors/ Decor: Fiery Red, Fuchsia, Orange, and Violet, red candles. Avoid: Blue, water, Green, wood, Earth tones of brown, yellow, peach, ochre, sand, and tan, Metal, white, gray, and black. CURES: Annual cure is a Happy Hotei sitting on 7 Chinese Red envelopes. That cure protects your relationships and wealth.
DEPRESS – The 5 Star is doubled in influence in the West and is a real CAUTION. KEEP THIS AREA QUIET WITH NO CONSTRUCTION OR LOUD BANGING NOISES. To suppress this chi, keep this room dark and used minimally. Best Colors: Metal and the colors of White, Gray, and Black. Keep the design very Zen. Avoid: EARTH tones like Yellow, Brown, Tan, Peach, Rust, Wood, colors of Green, Blue, Water, Fire and Fire colors of Red, Hot Pink, Orange and Violet. CURE: If this is a main entrance, place a pair of Gold Fu Dogs flanking the front steps/ entranceway. If this is Kitchen, cover the burners with cookie sheets when not in use. If this is a bedroom, put a Salt Water Cure under the bed and put a Brass Wu Lou Health Gourd on your bedside table. VACATE THIS AS A BEDROOM AND AVOID AS AN ENTRANCE if at all possible. Best cure is a 6 rod Metal windchime outside or a chiming clock inside.
Neutral – The 4 Star is in the North West is doubled and also one of the 3 Afflictions, the Sui Po which is the enemy of the Dragon. If you are born in the Day or Year of the Dog or Dragon DO NOT have this as you bedroom, office, or main entrance. Do Not face SE but it is OK to face NW and put your back to the SE. KEEP THIS AREA QUIET AND UNDISTURBED WITH CONSTRUCTION OR LOUD NOISES. The Period 9 Star 1 offers a mitigation but the 4 Star in Period 9 is not as favorable for relationships as it was in Period 8, and not as supportive of education and intelligence. The presence of the 1 Star is of great benefit as we see this chi as positive for spiritual practices like meditation, students doing well in their studies, and strong relationships except if there is too much water, it will incite infidelity and corruption in romance. Best Colors: Blue colors, no Water and some Metal AVOID: Fire, hot colors like red, fuchsia, orange, violet, green, heavy Wood furnishings, Earth and colors of Yellow, Brown, Tan, Peach, or Rust. CURE: If a front door hang a Ba-Gua mirror to deflect the negative chi and flank the entrance with a pair of Metal Fu Dogs. If a bedroom put a Salt Water Cure under the bed and a Wu Lou Health gourd by the bedside. To protect relationships, put a Chinese Coin with the 4 characters facing up with a Rose Quartz crystal on top. 4 stalks of Lucky Bamboo in a Blue vase is another cure option.
ACTIVATE – The 8 Star is in the North for 2024 and doubled in January emphasizes the potential for wealth but a caution to health issues. The 8 Star is challenged in the Watery North and as we have ignored the innate expression of this direction to nourish the 8 Star with Earth. Just be mindful of health issues but overall this is a great place for business and finances. Best Colors/ Decor: The mitigator is Metal and the colors of Black, White, and Gray. This is to control any influences from the 5 Star. Avoid: Fire colors of Red, Fuchsia, Violet, and Rose, Earth tones like yellow, peach, rust, burgundy, brown, and tan, Green, Water and colors of Blue. CURES: 8 Silk RED Flowers in a RED Vase and 8 Chinese coins on red string.
DEPRESS– The 6 Star is in the North East and doubled creates an amplification of small knife suggesting subtle jabs, nastiness, and backstabbing. This may be cloaked or hidden dangers. The Period 9 Star 3 here only adds to the aggravated tension here. Be careful of injury with sharp objects, especially if this is a kitchen, surgery, fighting that turns violent, defamation, legal problems, family disharmony and loss of money. Best Colors/ Decor: Metal furnishings, Black, white, gray with Blue Avoid: Earthy brown, yellow, cream, ochre, and tan, Water, Wood, Green, Fire, Red, Fuchsia, Violet, Tangerine, Rose, Red. CURES: Black crystals like obsidian, blue cushions and other accessories, Gold Happy Buddha for harmony.
Activate– The 1 Star is in the East is our new Future Wealth Star in Period 9 with Star 7. The 1 Star flying in for January adds a promising forecast for finances, investments, and travels but cautions around problematic relationships due to the 7 Star. Best Colors: Blue, focus primarily on Blue with healthy plants. Also Metal objects. Avoid: Earth tones like yellow, brown, tan, peach, pale pink, and also Fire like red, violet, hot pink, orange, Woody green too. CURE: Your 2024 Vision Board you can pull down and review what you were able to manifest. This is also a great time to divine your new Vision Board for 2025, set it aside to be placed in the SE later in the month. Add a Green Happy Buddha for harmony, and Metal objects to weaken the negative impact of the 7 Star.
Neutral – The 2 Star is in the South East where the Dragon holds reign for 2024 is the GRAND DUKE, one of the 3 Afflictions. 2024 requires we keep this part of our home and property QUIET, NO CONSTRUCTION, LOUD NOISES. The Period 9 Star 8 brings some goodness but the overall vibe is very contentious. Females tend to be the overpowering presence bringing imbalance in relationships. This area is good for real estate, finance, and business luck. Be mindful of your health. Best Colors: Focus on Metal to weaken these Stars with colors of white, gray, and black. Avoid : Earthy elements of Yellow, Brown, and Terracotta or Rust, green colors, purple, violet, rose, and watermelon, and other Fire colors. CURE: To appease the Grand Duke display a Tai Sui plaque and a pair of Pi Yao beasties facing into 105-135 degrees on the compass. You can also display a Gold Dragon to honor our Dragon Year. If this is an office, put 3 Brass Immortals at your back for support. If this is a main entrance, place a pair of Gold Fu Dogs flanking the front steps/ entranceway for protection. If this is a Kitchen, cover the burners with cookie sheets when not in use. If this is a bedroom, put a Salt Water Cure under the bed and put a Brass Wu Lou Health Gourd on your bedside table. VACATE THIS AS A BEDROOM AND AVOID AS AN ENTRANCE if at all possible. DO NOT FACE South East, Do NOT TRAVEL or point your head when sleeping in the direction of the SE.
DEPRESS– The 7 Star is in the South and doubled brings a lot of fighting, legal issues, injury or surgery. This is the location of one of the 3 Afflictions, the Three Killings. Be mindful of the risk to safety and finances as well as your reputation. CHECK DOORS AND SECURITY – DO NOT store guns, knives, or any other weapons, or tools like a chainsaw in the South. Best Colors: Focus on the colors palette of Blue and black with Metal items. Avoid: White, gray, Earth tones like Brown, Tan, and Cream, Fire as in Red, Violet, Hot Pink, and Orange, active Water, Green, and Wood. CURE: Fill a black dish with rice and set a Chinese Coin with a bloodstone crystal on top to protect finances. If this is a Kitchen, cover the burners with cookie sheets when not in use. Three Killings Cure is a Brass Dragon Headed Turtle (never have this facing you) with a plant growing in clean, clear water.
ACTIVATE– BEST DIRECTION – The 9 Star is in the South West is our NEW wealth Star ruled by Fire. Period 9 Star 6 here makes a dynamic winning combination of Stars. The outlook here is financial good fortune, promotion, business luck, fame, and happy gatherings. Best Colors: Use Earth tones like cream, tan, brown, and purple. Worst Colors: Green ,Wood, Metal, Gray, Black, White, Fire, Yellow, Cherry, Cantaloupe, Watermelon, Rose, BLUE, and Water CURE: Display prominently 9 purple silk flowers in a purple or green vase. Have at least one vibrant, healthy plant in this room. Amethyst crystals are also welcome.
BEST DIRECTIONS: South West, and somewhat fortunate but with caution is Center, North West, North, East, and South East.
