This month will be a condensed version, a Cliff Notes, an amplification of our collective and personal astrology for this year. It is profound, it is important, and we must pay attention.
JOURNAL PROMPT: Throughout this month journal daily about the people, interactions, events, activities, and the pulse of your financial, health, and mental health. By the time we reach early June, you will have a better understanding of what this year’s message and medicine is for you, and for our country/ our world.
May arrives on the 5th – The 3 Pillars are: Yang Wood Dog / Yin Metal Snake/ Yin Wood Snake
The Flying Stars for May reveals many opportunities for success and wealth but also a caution to fighting and accidents. Check out that Blog and the YouTube video on the Flying Stars for May. The Dog is an autumn Horoscope Animal and it’s presence here feels like a cooler Earth after our month of April with fertile wet Earth of the Dragon. The Dog suggests cooler temps in May than typical. The Yang Wood is fuel for the Fiery month and year of the Snake. When you look at the Stems, Yang Wood, Yin Metal, and Yin Wood it feels like there is growth of all kinds but it is impaired, held in check, edited, and so it is a caution if you are launching something, making a big move or change, to be very mindful of what is going on, seeing the big picture so you can avert danger, loss, or mistakes. There is this aspect to the month of May that I find concerning, that Yin Metal is like flint being sparked by the Yang Fire of the Snake and it gave me this image: kundalini, the snake coiled rising up into firestorms, explosions, accidents (transportation), but is also a catalyst for transformation, profound change for all of us. It is a month to really be mindful and how do we practice mindfulness?
MINDFULNESS:
- Slow your daily life down by balancing your schedule with activities and rest
- Before you start something, pause an take 3 slow breaths.
- After you finish something, pause and take 3 slow breaths
- Whatever you are doing, have an awareness you are doing it. For example, you are doing the dishes, so your focus is “I am washing the pot. I am rinsing the pot. I am drying the pot.” This is about building the muscle of awareness.
- Less screen time so you can be more present in this now moment. Stop, look around and notice what you see, feel, smell, taste, or are touching. When you aren’t looking at a screen you are present in your life.
- Journal what’s sitting on your heart and what happens every day of this month including how you are feeling in response to all of it…all of it. Because this month is showing you your year.
- Do activities that light up your heart
- Go on an inspiring retreat like the one’s Lydia Nitya Griffith offers at Open Sky
- Keep life simple, act with mindfulness, adopt a more quiet demeanor – you do not have to respond to every post, every text, email, or phone call.
