Feng Shui Tips to Drive Bad Energy From Your Home

You can usually feel it, something isn’t right. You look around and can’t identify the culprit. Is it something about the front entrance of your house, the yard, your neighbors. Yes, keep looking around, be a Feng Shui detective and know that what you are sensing is a real energetic violation.

Where Bad Energy Comes From and How to Drive it Away:

  1. Do you have a driveway or a road coming straight to your front door?
    • Remedies: Erect a fence or shrubbery like boxwood, dwarf fir trees, or a rock wall that is no more than 3-4 Feet so that you are not walling yourself in like a prisoner. Hang a convex Ba-Gua Mirror on your front door to deflect the chi away from the house. BUY CURES HERE (Feng Shui Mall affiliate with Kharma Khameleon)
  2. Is there a building or a house next to your home that is angled in such a way that a Poison Arrow is shooting negative chi or energy at your house?
    • Remedies: Plant a tree to grow and block the Poison Arrow or hang a Convex Ba-Gua Mirror facing from your house towards that affliction.
  3. Is there a dead tree on or near your property or large tree limb pointed at your house?
    • Remedies: If this is not on your property, you may try having a conversation with that neighbor about removing the dead tree to protect both properties. If it is on city property, contact them to request its removal for public safety. If the dead tree or limbs are on your property, choose an auspicious day for removal. In the meantime, be sure to add protection to that part of your Ba-Gua in the event this dead energy is shooting negativity towards your career, marriage, finances, or family. One protection may be an angel statue placed outside facing the dead tree/ limb. I would not use a Ba-Gua mirror because it may influence the tree to be more unstable.
  4. Is there a large ditch or gully in front of your house that collect debris, trash and sitting water?
    • Remedies: This can cause stagnant chi that oozes towards your property like a haze of negativity. Work with your city or county officials to ensure they dredge it so the water flows and doesn’t stagnate. Take the time to clean it yourself so trash and leaves do not collect. Planting ferns, irises, day lilies, elderberry (you can make elderberry syrup from the berries), or cattails.
  5. Other Negative Influences:
    • High voltage power lines – simple remedy, MOVE – no one should live within a mile or more of these power lines as they emit horrible energy for the health of your home and family. Studies show there is a greater risk for cancer living in such a toxic environment.
    • Holiday Decor – displaying images of death beyond the holiday of Halloween brings a very Yin influence to your house and can invite in heavy, dark energy conducive to depression, low energy, and may impact the part of the Ba-Gua it is sitting in.
    • Graveyards, Hospitals and Churches: These bring in an imbalanced amount of Yin energy that is heavy, dark, still or stagnant, filled with sorrow, grief, and sickness. This energy is activated when you put wind chimes out, drawing spirits to your home that may be malevolent. Not a healthy vibrant place to live or raise a family. Best option here is to move.
    • Sacred Land – does your home sit on Indigenous land? Perhaps this is an old burial ground. Look and see what tribe formerly lived on your property, reach out to a tribal leader in your community and see if they can shar some history with you about the land. Remedy: Create a sacred garden that honors all those who have called your property a home. This may be a statue of an angel, plantings like forget-me-nots, roses, lilies, marigolds, rosemary, and a dogwood tree. Maybe have an engraved stone with a quote or inspiring word(s).

As the seasons shift towards cooler days, the leaves blanket the lawn, and we begin to move more indoors, take this opportunity to walk around your yard and investigate what is needed to ensure you have vibrant chi flowing to your home, and all over your yard and garden.

Raking leaves into piles that you put around trees and shrubs offers a winter coat and nourishment throughout winter. Planting a winter garden of kale, chard, spinach, or arugula adds greenery and food during a time of year that can be pretty colorless. Put up a lovely wreath on your true front door and try to utilize that main entrance the most rather than coming in the back or garage door which is unfavorable. The front door is the mouth of your home from which all who enter offer it the nourishment of your lovely energy like a gentle hug from a dear friend.
