Holiday Tablescaping with Feng Shui

Tablescapes are a beautiful way to design your family table for the holidays using the colors, materials, and design of the season but also using the ancient practice of Feng Shui.

Dining Room Designs according to Feng Shui:

1. West/ North West – Metal
   • Colors: White, cream, silver, gold, and crystal
   • Design: White table cloth/ linens with a gold/silver runner, gold candlesticks with silver, gold, or cream candles in the center, clustered on the runner place angel figurines with silver and gold balls, and some jingle bells.
2. North – Water
   • Colors: All shades of blue
   • Design: a dark blue table cloth/ linens with a light blue runner, a blue and white porcelain vase in the center with a bouquet of frosted silver and gold branches, along the runner place silver candlesticks with silver, blue, or white candles, randomly place silver, gold, and blue frosted balls with little blue birds.
3. North East, Center, or South West – Earth
   • Colors: Beige, cream, brown, tan, cranberry, and ruby red
   • Design: Cranberry red tablecloth/ linens with a creamy gold runner and centerpiece of a basket filled with pine cones (natural and some sprayed gold), along the runner place sprays of pine with little pine cones and sprigs of red berries or autumn leaves.
4. East/ South East – Wood
   • Colors: Green with red, cranberry, fuchsia
   • Design: Farm table with natural wood using green tablemats and napkins, or a green or red table cloth/ linens. Centerpiece of a gingerbread house, or a Santa Claus, or a Red or Green vase filled with green fronds and red berries, or a poinsettia plant. Add a runner in an alternate color – green table cloth/ red runner, red table cloth/ green runner. Place little gifts and red/ fuchsia bows and red/ fuchsia holidays balls along the runner.
5. South
   • Colors: Red, Cranberry, Plum, Fuchsia
   • Design: Bright tablecloth in a shade of red with a fuchsia runner. Large candelabra in the center with red, fuchsia, and cranberry candles. Add little crystal votives with red candles and sprigs of berries along the runner.
